Green superfoods in BoraTree products

We mentioned above the green superfoods that we use in most of our products. But what are their benefits and why did we choose them? All provide significant nutritional benefits and are rich in various antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. But what makes individual green superfoods unique? Let us take a look at their proven effects.

Chlorella

Chlorella, a green plant native to Taiwan, contains a number of macro and micronutrients. The vitamins are B vitamins, especially vitamin B12, vitamin C and E. It also contains various antioxidants, carotenoids, especially beta-carotene, and minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium and iron.

We must not forget the content of green dye, chlorophyll. It is chlorophyll that has a significant antioxidant activity, which significantly improves the resistance of cells and the body in general to oxidative stress.

Thanks to its nutritious composition, chlorella might contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system, nervous system or for example to the absorption of cholesterol.

Curly Kale

Even if you may not say that, kale is also one of the green superfoods. Did you know, for example, that only 100 g of kale can supply the body with up to half the daily dose of vitamin C? In addition, it contains a lot of fibre, vitamins and minerals.

Scientific research has even found that it helps lower blood cholesterol. Therefore, its inclusion in the menu can bring you the benefits.

Matcha

Matcha tea, or Chinese tea, has also been gaining popularity in recent years. Various previous studies have shown that its three components, more specifically l-theanine, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and caffeine, affect our mood and cognitive abilities.

In another study, an international study of food research in Ottawa, Canada, attempted an interesting study involving 23 consumers tested during four sessions. At each session, they consumed one of the four tested products – matcha tea, matcha bar containing 4 g of matcha tea powder, placebo tea and placebo bar. Their attention, information processing, working and episodic memory were evaluated.

The result of this study is that after consuming matcha products, there was a significant improvement in the attention and speed of psychomotor reactions. Consumers did better, especially in tasks measuring the speed of spatial memory. Thus, it was found that the use of matcha products can have a positive effect on our attention and secondary memory.

Moringa

Another important green superfoods is moringa. This lesser-known plant is rich in all possible nutrients, while it really contains a lot of valuable substances. Up to 18 amino acids were found in its leaves, while we are really aware of 20 essential amino acids. These are especially important for the proper functioning of the central nervous system.

We should also mention its high content of antioxidants, which protect us from free radicals. It contains vitamins A and C from vitamins and calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc from minerals. An interesting valuable substance is zeatin, an important chemical carrier, thanks to which all these substances get exactly where they should, thus increasing their effectiveness.

Research has confirmed the positive effects of moringa on protection against cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and high blood pressure.

Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass, can also bring many health benefits. It contains the already mentioned chlorophyll, but also flavonoids and vitamins C and E. Wheatgrass extract has shown anticancer potential in research, as its positive effects in the prevention and treatment of cancer have been shown in animal experiments.

According to these studies, wheatgrass can alleviate the side effects associated with chemotherapy and also helps with obesity and diabetes. Another great benefit is that they do not report any side effects. The popularity of wheatgrass is growing, which is why we decided to use its effects in our products.

Spirulina

The blue-green alga called spirulina became famous mainly thanks to NASA, where it was used as a nutritional supplement for astronauts on space missions. What makes it so special? It has anti-inflammatory abilities and supports immune responses.

They also studied the positive effects of spirulina in allergic rhinitis at the Department of Otolaryngology at Liverpool University Hospital in the United Kingdom. However, they also mentioned the anticancer effects of spirulina in relation to the high beta-carotene content in this study. These are interesting claims which, however, require further investigation.

This algae is a rich source of vitamins A, B, E and K, fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidants and minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. It mainly affects our digestion, as it contributes to the proper functioning of the intestines. We also chose it based on its excellent effects on our immune system. It supplies the body with energy and contributes to its protection from various infections.

Spinach

Spinach has always been mentioned in connection with a high iron content. However, we were also interested in other valuable substances that are found in it. These are chlorophyll and carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lutein or zeaxanthin.

We have already mentioned the effects of chlorophyll in chlorella. Carotenoids are excellent for our eyesight, as they affect the aging processes of the eyes and their overall health. However, a significant benefit of spinach is its antioxidant ability, which is the subject of much research.

Barley grass

As the last green superfoods, we will mention barley grass. It is also rich in various valuable substances. It contains B vitamins, vitamins A, C and E, minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium and iron, various antioxidants, fibre and chlorophyll.

Research has shown that its composition can affect inflammatory and have regenerative effects. Barley grass can also contribute to control of blood sugar and cholesterol levels or to prevention from cardiovascular disease. Its content of antioxidants can minimize the effects of oxidative stress and is also talked about in connection with alleviating the symptoms of skin diseases.

Tips for green smoothies

When selecting suitable superfoods for our products, we focused mainly on the quality of individual ingredients and their mutual synergy, i.e. cooperation. Thanks to that, you don’t even have to worry about their combinations. Prepare delicious smoothies and treat your body to a good dose of healthy substances.

Green smoothie with vegetable milk

Mix two teaspoons of powder (10 g, which is the recommended daily dose) of Bio bora Revive with 200 ml of vegetable milk according to your preference. We recommend trying coconut and oat milk in particular, as the smoothie is really delicious with them. Then add a piece of banana to the blender for a sweeter taste and mix well. The resulting smoothie is really very tasty and will also give you energy for the whole day.

Green smoothie/porridge with yogurt

If you prefer a firmer smoothie consistency, we have another tip for you. Put the following ingredients in the blender – one white yogurt or cream and two teaspoons of Bio bora Recover protein powder.

In case you would like to sweeten the smoothie, we recommend a little honey or raisins. If you want to make it for breakfast, feel free to add oatmeal or nuts, such as almonds. Mix everything thoroughly and you have a nutritious breakfast suitable for muscle growth.

TIP: Don’t be afraid to combine individual BoraTree products. We have created all them so that you can safely combine them, and what’s more, combining them will only support their individual effects.

With superfoods for a healthy lifestyle

There are countless studies proving the beneficial effects of superfoods on human health. In organic quality, they contain many more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, so you can help your health by including them in the diet.

Keep in mind, however, that even the inclusion of superfoods in your diet will not help you if your diet is unbalanced or not varied enough. The basis is a balanced and varied diet, sufficient exercise and rest combined with the right superfoods.
